Lattice-Boltzmann modeling of a turbulent bluff-body stabilized flame

نویسندگان

چکیده

This Letter reports the first large eddy simulation of a turbulent flame using lattice-Boltzmann model. To that end, bluff-body stabilized propane–air is carried out, showing an agreement similar to those available in literature. Computational costs are also reported, indicating modeling reactive flows competitive, with around 1000cpuh required simulate one residence time 1.5 m burner.

Near-Blowoff Dynamics of a Bluff-Body Stabilized Flame

This paper describes an experimental investigation of the dynamics of a near-blowoff, bluff-body stabilized flame. This work is motivated by a number of prior observations showing that near-blowoff flames exhibit enhanced unsteadiness. Laser sheet imaging studies and particle image velocimetry velocity field measurements show that the transient dynamics of these flames occur in two distinct sta...

Radiation modeling of a turbulent diffusion flame in diesel engine

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of radiation heat transfer on temperature distribution and heat flux to the walls of a diesel engine. A diffusion flame is modeled in a simple cylindrical geometry and boundary conditions are defined. A specific solver which can model the turbulent diffusion flame by considering radiation in participating media is used to solve the problem....

Large Eddy Simulation of an Oscillating Flame in Turbulent Flow around a Bluff Body

The present research aims at providing a reliable model for the simulation of oscillating flames which are often discovered in industrial gas turbine combustors operating at lean premixed conditions. The paper presents a Large Eddy Simulation of an oscillating bluff-body stabilised flame with a probability density function model of the subfilter scale interaction. The results show good overall ...

Error analysis of large-eddy simulation of the turbulent non-premixed sydney bluff-body flame

A computational error analysis is applied to the large-eddy simulation of the turbulent non-premixed Sydney bluff-body flame, where the error is defined with respect to experimental data. The errorlandscape approach is extended to heterogeneous compressible turbulence, which is coupled to combustion as described by a flamelet model. The Smagorinsky model formulation is used to model the unknown...
